Abstract

This paper tries to discuss, in light of Oresteia by Aeschylus and Oresteia by Klein, the issues raised by the Oedipus Complex within the Kleinian model of thought. Orestes is an older Oedipus and struggles with another kind of emotional force, trying to protect the dead father from the Erinyes of the mother. This text relates the Oedipus Complex to a psychotic plane, where the figure of the mother occupies another place and function. She is not the object of desire; she is the acting out, the acting out of that revenge cultivated by the father within the psychic interior of the mother. The text also touches on the feminine issue and Klein’s latest dives into this zone of mystery and violence. The son kills the mother: the Oresteia.
