A realização de desejo na história da investigação dos sonhos

Ao contrário de concepções ainda dominantes no campo psicanalítico e na história das ideias científicas, a história da pesquisa sobre os sonhos anterior a Freud mostra um rico campo de investigação multidisciplinar, envolvendo medicina, neurobiologia, psicologia, filosofia, teologia, educação, entre outras áreas de conhecimento. A maioria dos insights constitutivos da visão psicanalítica dos sonhos faz-se presente nessas tradições de pesquisa e foram ativamente utilizados por Freud na elaboração de sua própria teoria. Seu conhecimento é, portanto, essencial para uma adequada compreensão história e epistemológica da visão psicanalítica dos sonhos. Este artigo explora essas tradições em torno do tema central do sonho como realização de desejos, que forma o eixo da abordagem freudiana inicial dos fenômenos oníricos.
